Everything's Fine

Sometimes when you want to pull the chain
To get down at the wrong train station,
And don't have a job, so there's no question of a vacation.
you book your time with a shrink on a rainy day 'cause you cant get out of bed..
But then the sun comes out, you decide to go get yourself a drink instead.

Sometimes, when the phone keeps ringing and you cant pick it up

And you look up your book of worn out excuses,
each time someone calls you to the pub.
But everything's fine-- as long as you're young enough to pretend
Because every bad thing that started in your life never did come to an end..

"Oh what a pity, wasting your mind and your youth"

"Honey you've been in pain, why not get that bad tooth?"
It's the putting off that bothers them, and you cant explain;
That everything's fine as long as you don't give it a name.

You stumble into shops and buy many when you don't want one,

But everything's fine until you tell yourself its no fun..
Everything's okay, everything's fine..
There was never a pain that a painkiller couldn't kill in time.

Its not ignorance and its not oblivion.

And its not as bad as it sounds
Because sometimes you want to get down at the wrong station,
At your own choice and inclination.

There's too many things that the world considers wrong.

Too many things to write in a single song..
But everything's fine as long as you wake up--
Knowing you haven't ever stolen pennies from a beggar's cup.

Sadness and despair can kill you, but that'll take a while..

What kills you faster, are people proud and facile.
The world is a stage, and everything's fine.
Even if you take time,
to figure out what your part is;
Because the holes in your head will heal
As long as you know where your heart is.
And everything's fine,
Everything will be fine
Everything's fine
Everything's fine..
